Bring your finished ornament to the library by December 12 to enter. We can’t wait to see your creative masterpieces hanging on our tree! 🎄💫

🦃Thanksgiving Book Feast Fun! 🦃

Y-S Elementary students enjoyed a “Thanksgiving Book Feast” this week. Instead of turkey and pie, they “tasted” a variety of new books—- sampling genres, exploring new titles, and discovering stories they may not have picked up on their own! The biggest lesson of the week—— Don’t judge a book by its cover! ✨

We will see students again on Monday, December 1!

📣 Attention Yellville-Summit High School Parents & Guardians!

Important information about Arkansas Act 724 and the new suite of assessments available to Arkansas high school students will be sent home with students in grades 9-11 today.

These new assessment options are part of Arkansas’s commitment to supporting students as they plan for college, career, or military pathways. Since these changes take effect this school year, we are working quickly to ensure students and families have the information they need.

🗓️ What’s Happening Next?

December 2nd–5th:
Students in grades 9-11 will learn about their new assessment options during school. They will receive guidance on assessments such as ACT/SAT, CLT, WorkKeys, and ASVAB helping them choose what best supports their post-secondary goals.

December 5th:
Students will complete a survey with their parents/guardians to select their testing choices for this school year.
➡️ This survey will be posted in each student’s Graduation Class Google Classroom.

📌 Please check your student’s Google Classroom on December 5th and complete the survey together.

We understand this is a quick turnaround, and we appreciate your flexibility as we work to provide these new opportunities as quickly as possible under state requirements.

This week our 5th and 6th grade students are pulling up a chair to a Book Feast and will get a “taste” of stories they might not normally choose. From adventure to historical fiction to novels in verse, they will sample it all and share their ratings—no leftovers here! 😉 To top it off, everyone enjoys a sweet after-dinner mint on their way out. So proud of these readers for trying something new! 🧡📖

The P.A.Y.S. Coalition sponsored the planting of red tulip bulbs for a Red Ribbon Week Activity. Ms Quinn's Advanced/Plant Science class planted these for a Spring reminder of our collective promise to be kind to our minds.

Our 1,000,000 word student last week won Word Wizard this week! Congrats to James Paxton! Also, a big shout out to Mrs. Buel for top staff reader! Yep, the staff are competing too! Way to go, Panthers!

The Arvest Tournament hosted by Flippin School District starts Saturday! Catch our girls at 1:00 PM in the new gym and our boys at 2:30 PM in the old gym.

Calling All Former Y-S Cheerleaders!

Congratulations to Grace Clifford on signing to play softball next fall for the U of A @ Northark Lady Pioneers! We are proud of you and the work you have put in to achieve this great accomplishment!

Mrs. Tera Payne from Arvest Bank visited Yellville-Summit High School to conduct mock interviews with Mrs. Lynch’s upper-level business students. Students interviewed as if applying for a teller position and then received personalized, professional feedback from Mrs. Payne on how to elevate their interviewing skills.

Pictured are Mrs. Payne and junior Jonah Sutterfield, who had the opportunity to interview with her for the second year in a row. Mrs. Payne also works with Jonah’s mother, Cindy, at Arvest Bank—a fun connection that made the experience even more memorable. Jonah shared, “It was a great experience. The interview process was awesome!”

Yellville-Summit High School is grateful to Mrs. Payne for sharing her time and expertise. This event is a highlight each year for the Y-S business program, and we truly appreciate the partnership with Arvest Bank in preparing our students for future success.

Ella read an incredible 201,325 words this week! 🪄📚 A huge shout-out also goes to James Paxton, who just became the first middle school student to reach 1,000,000 words read this nine weeks—way to go, James! 🌟 Check out the October Middle School Library Stats & Facts attached to see what our readers have been up to!

These awesome YSMS students (Ryland, Paisley, Colin, and Miranda) were drawn from October’s PBIS tickets! Their hard work, kindness, and Panther pride paid off — and now they’re rockin’ some new kicks! 💚

The third grade has a wonderful field trip to the James A. Gaston Visitor Center in Bull Shoals, Arkansas!
