Way to go, Mrs. Stoops!
One of her school counseling professors from Arkansas State University encouraged her former students to apply to be a part of the all expense paid Launch Fellowship.
Mrs. Stoops followed that recommendation, applied, and was selected as a 2025 Launch Fellow. The Launch Fellowship is sponsored by the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture in the hopes of sparking student interest in agriculture-related careers.
Twelve middle school counselors from rural areas across the United States were chosen to participate. Those counselors, mentors, and directors have completed assignments and met via Zoom over the last few months to discuss career exploration in the fields of food and agriculture.
The Launch Fellowship included a summer immersive learning experience for the counselors in Ithaca, New York, and will also sponsor supplies for career exploration activities for our YSMS students.
Pictured here are the 12 Launch Fellows plus mentors after listening to presentations and completing a tour of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University.

Y-S took home 1st place and 3rd place in the “Team” category, 1st place in the “Other” category, and 2nd place in the “Chemistry” category. Our 4th graders recently took part in an exciting and educational “Game of Life” event! Students visited different stations set up by local businesses and community members, where they had the chance to make real-world financial decisions. From buying cars and houses to paying for groceries, taxes, and bills, each student experienced what it’s like to manage money and make smart choices. Some were even lucky enough to win a little extra cash! It was a fun, hands-on way to learn about responsibility, budgeting, and life in the real world.
A huge thank you to the following businesses and volunteers for joining our special day!

•Allen's Grocery
•Entergy
•Davenport Realty
