Ms. Simons' Biology students were busy investigating the invisible magic of photosynthesis. To see it in action, we used Elodea (a common aquatic plant) and Bromothymol Blue (BTB)—a special indicator that changes color based on the amount of carbon dioxide present in the water.

By observing the BTB shift back to a vibrant blue as the plants absorbed carbon dioxide and released oxygen, we were able to see the evidence of gas exchange happening right before our eyes. It was incredible to watch these aquatic plants prove they are powerful little oxygen-producing factories!

High School Parent-Teacher Conferences – A Little Something New!

We’re doing something a little different for high school Parent-Teacher Conferences this time!

Parents will still have the opportunity to visit with teachers from 1:30–7:30 PM in Panther Pavilion.

In addition, we will be hosting grade-level parent meetings in the High School Library to share updates about new diplomas and course opportunities for our students and provide reminders about the wonderful programs and supports we already have in place. Please use the high school entrance at the student gravel parking lot.

The Y-S 4th grade quiz bowl team took first place in their division today at ASUMH. The “Battle of the Buzzers” was hosted by Cotter Public Schools. Emma Dubuque was awarded a medal for all-tournament. All-tournament recognition is earned by averaging at least 5 correct answers per game. Great job, Panthers! We are proud of your accomplishment!

In Science class, the third graders have enjoyed gathering weather data with the help of “Milton the Meteorologist”!

Ms. Lorey’s Preschool class was blessed with new hats! But not just any hat, these hats were made by Shalice Hill, a parent. Each student was given a hat pattern, colored it any way they wanted, and Ms. Hill made their pattern into a perfect replica hat! The children were so excited! A big thank you to Shalice Hill for sharing her time and talent with us. We all feel so loved!
